The
Egg is the key to the Aliens assured survival over a prolonged period. It is
home to the Facehugger stage. This, it keeps in a state of biogenic hibernation
by introducing a metabolistic impeding hormone into the blood and tissues of
the creature. Nourished by a source of complex regenerative sugars, the creature
lies domant. The Egg produces an ultra-sonic proximity field which is tripped
by the presence of a potential host, when the cortex of the Facehugger is prepped
and used to analyse the host for suitablity.
